New Vendor Categories

February 26th, 2010
written by Danielle Grossi

We’ve been hard at work on a new taxonomy (i.e. classification of vendors) over the past few weeks. It’s not as easy as it seems. We hope that our new vendor categories will enable more vendors to sign up, many of whom have contacted me directly, asking me to add a category for them. :-)

We’ve made the categories more general now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get specific. For example, if you are a marketing person or company focused on brand development and management, then you would register yourself under Marketing –> Marketing Consultant. Then, you would enter specific keywords or tags in your profile describing your specialty, for example, “brand management” or “brand development.”

New Vendor Categories

Let us know what you think of the categories. Send us an email or submit feedback on the site if you feel we’ve missed a major category: info@smeepe.com

We’ve also added some more features for our vendors including service area definition, social settings, and the ability for you to also save vendors you think are interesting or with whom you may want to do business. More on that in future posts.

smeepe goes German!

December 30th, 2009
written by Danielle Grossi

Our platform has been translated into German! We’re so excited! We just can’t stop using these exclamation points!

We’re still in Beta – so please don’t be shy. Let us know if something’s broken or is not to your liking, there’s room for change and your feedback is the most important aspect.

We’re planning for more languages soon, but will stick with English and German for now.

Deutschland – melden Sie sich an!

Send me a note, comment on the blog, or “like” it in Facebook, so I know you got this and that the feed is still working, etc.

Thanks all!

Knowledge Management home found – smeepe

December 11th, 2009
written by Danielle Grossi

Knowledge Management Leaders can now call smeepe home! We’ve added a bunch of specific categories directly pertaining to knowledge ecology. Now consultants who specialize in KM can create a profile on smeepe and be found by potential customers.

Why did we decide to include knowledge management, you ask? Well, here’s how it all happened. Thankfully, a few months ago, an ex-colleague of mine from Intel contacted me to catch up. We started talking about what we both do and began talking more and more about smeepe, its functionality and future functionality. Because smeepe is a social site and much of what we refer to as Web 2.0 today has its roots in KM disciplines, she thought this platform could have a lot to offer her KM network. She spent time brainstorming with her KM network, coming up with ideas and feedback that we could build into smeepe.

We did just that and are now able to fully house the Knowledge Management branch. So, feel at home Knowledge Management and Web 2.0 Practitioners, we’re thankful to have you!

What I’m Thankful For

November 24th, 2009
written by Danielle Grossi

In light of TweetsGiving 2009, I wanted to share with you all what I’m thankful for.

I’m most thankful for my husband, family, dog, and close friends. These are the people (and animals :-) ) close to me that make life worth living. I’m so very thankful for life’s little luxuries that we take for granted everyday, such as running water, heat, a roof over my head, a car, electricity, telephones, Internet, and technology.

All of these things make life so much easier and help me stay in touch with my family and friends.

I’m thankful for the education we are provided and for the equal rights we have.

I’m thankful for all my successes and even more thankful for my mistakes and failures.

I’m thankful for everyone I know, because each of you has impacted me in some way.

I’m thankful for beautiful sunsets on the beach of my hometown.

I’m thankful for being in a position in my life where I can help OTHERS, that is truly the most rewarding.

I’m thankful for EpicChange for putting on this massive event, TweetsGiving.

There’s so much more that I’m thankful for…I could go on forever. What are you thankful for?

TweetsGiving 2009

November 22nd, 2009
written by Danielle Grossi

text_eventresource-300x192tg

In my last blog exactly 2 months ago (I know, shame on me), I mentioned TweetsGiving 2009. Well, it’s finally upon us! #TweetsGiving 2009 will kick off worldwide this Tuesday, November 24th. I’m so excited to take part in this event! Showing gratitude for all that I have and for all that this world has to offer always makes me feel good. On top of that, donating and giving to others who are in need is a very important part of my life. I feel honored to represent Frankfurt am Main, Germany this year.

We’re coming together this TweetsGiving to finish the project started by Epic Change in Tanzania last year. Over $10,000 was donated in a matter of 48 hours for TweetsGiving 2008! Let’s rally again this year, get that positive energy of gratitude flowing and help others in need! We have so much to be grateful for – once you start naming off the things you are grateful for, you just can’t stop – believe me!

If you can attend a live Gratitude Party – please do so. Ours will be in Frankfurt:

Date: November 25th, 2009, starting at 6p
Venue: theplacetobe
Address:
Weissadlergasse 3
60311 Frankfurt am Main
Germany

You can buy your tickets here ahead of time online for TweetsGiving FFM.

If you’re not able to attend a live Gratitude Party – then please help us rally online via Twitter this entire week! Our goal is to bring the Internet down with all our gratitude!!

Thank you for participating in any way that you can. We have so much and the best way to show our gratitude is of course being thankful for what we have and to help others who are less fortunate.

What the heck is TweetsGiving?

TweetsGiving & smeepe

September 22nd, 2009
written by Danielle Grossi

TweetsGiving is a twitter celebration of gratitude and giving created by Epic Change. Last year, the TweetsGiving team raised over $10,000 in 48 hours to build a classroom in Tanzania!

This year for TweetsGiving the team is planning an event series of 100+ fundraising events worldwide. These events should take place during the week of Thanksgiving in the US, which is on Thursday, November 26, 2009.

Danny Brown and I were talking about various twitter-based charity events, like the one he is running, 12for12k, and we got on the topic of TweetsGiving. He told me about his involvement for TweetsGiving this year and I immediately asked if I could join.

Stacey Monk and her team then asked if I’d be interested in being the point person for all TweetsGiving tweetups in Europe. I said – absolutely!

I will be hosting a TweetsGiving tweetup in either Darmstadt or Frankfurt the week of November 23rd.

If anyone else in Europe would like to host a TweetsGiving tweetup, please let me know. Can’t wait to see all my local Tweeps in Frankfurt!

eventtrack Acquisition

September 20th, 2009
written by Danielle Grossi

We’re excited to announce the smeepe acquisition of eventtrack. eventtrack is a technology that tracks and collects information based on a particular keyword that the user determines. eventtrack uses over 20 social services to collect its information and display it via RSS feed to the user.

eventtrack is really easy to use. To create a new event to track (event in this case is any thing, happening, or point in time), you just have to do the following:

  1. Go to eventtrack.info
  2. Enter the keyword you want to track
  3. Select private or public
  4. Click Add New Event

That’s it! Now you can stay current on all social updates that pertain to that keyword.

eventtrack is already tracking thousands of events every day and is being used by two major corporations as a whitelabel service already.

smeepe had planned from the very beginning to integrate the technology as a whitelabel service for its users and vendors. More on that in a later post.

Recently, smeepe got the opportunity to acquire the technology and didn’t want to pass it up.

We’re excited to have eventtrack in our portfolio and look forward to building it out!

Tags! Get yer Tags!

September 17th, 2009
written by Danielle Grossi

We’ve finally been able to fix our dynamic tagging feature so that the tags that automatically get assigned to your smeepe vendor profile, are correct. If this is not the case with your vendor profile, let us know!

As soon as we’re done with our phase two development, you will be able to control the tags yourself.

Thank you to all our vendors for your feedback on this. If we can do anything else to improve, please let us know!
