eventtrack Acquisition

We’re excited to announce the smeepe acquisition of eventtrack. eventtrack is a technology that tracks and collects information based on a particular keyword that the user determines. eventtrack uses over 20 social services to collect its information and display it via RSS feed to the user.

eventtrack is really easy to use. To create a new event to track (event in this case is any thing, happening, or point in time), you just have to do the following:

Go to eventtrack.info
Enter the keyword you want to track
Select private or public
Click Add New Event

That’s it! Now you can stay current on all social updates that pertain to that keyword.

eventtrack is already tracking thousands of events every day and is being used by two major corporations as a whitelabel service already.

smeepe had planned from the very beginning to integrate the technology as a whitelabel service for its users and vendors. More on that in a later post.

Recently, smeepe got the opportunity to acquire the technology and didn’t want to pass it up.

We’re excited to have eventtrack in our portfolio and look forward to building it out!

Tags! Get yer Tags!

We’ve finally been able to fix our dynamic tagging feature so that the tags that automatically get assigned to your smeepe vendor profile, are correct. If this is not the case with your vendor profile, let us know!

As soon as we’re done with our phase two development, you will be able to control the tags yourself.

Thank you to all our vendors for your feedback on this. If we can do anything else to improve, please let us know!

We announced at the time of our launch in April that the first 5,000 vendors to sign up would get a 1-year subscription free — no strings attached, no credit cards required.

Well, we want to go above and beyond that. Because startups, small companies and even established businesses are having a tough time getting through this challenging economic period, we want to help where we can. We want to offer the 1-year free listing for as long as humanly possible.

Why? you ask? We’re a startup ourselves, so of course we want to make money too…at some point. But right now, we want to help you market your business for free in hopes of being a positive catalyst for the economy.

Not only that, we want to be one of those companies that helped bring the economy back on track by sacrificing short-term wins for the greater good of the market.

Who gives a bleep about smeepe?

I do, of course! And at least 4 other people I know, maybe 5.

smeepe’s mission is to match users to the best vendors they need for their corporate or personal event, and IT/social media project…worldwide. That means if you need a caterer, event agency, or a web designer, you will be able to find all of that at smeepe.

I’m passionate about making the planning and vendor selection process EASIER and FASTER. (If that’s not your experience with smeepe, please let me know.)

We focus on search technology versus directory drill-downs. You can still drill down, if you’d like, but finding vendors is easier with search.

Here’s why you should give a bleep about smeepe:

We focus on fast and easy search. If you need to filter on location, you can do that. But sometimes location doesn’t matter, that’s why search first
smeepe vendor profiles are almost like mini-websites. So if you vendors are just starting up, or your website is being remodeled or you just want an extension to your site, your smeepe vendor profile is super for that!
Search results are based on relevancy and ratings. Since we’re so new and not many ratings exist, most search results will be displayed based on relevancy. Great for users since they know the results are not sorted on how much money vendors give us – we don’t allow that!
We don’t make users log in or register to simply view vendor profile information. We’re all about making it easy and saving you time. If you want to do more with the info, then you’ll need to login so we know where to save settings to.
smeepe will become the Amazon of services, mark my words
